Strength for one day
It’s a beautiful morning. The sun has risen and the burden and stress of yesterday is in the
past. As I gaze upon God‘s creation today, I ask him for strength for this new day. I do not
know what today holds, but I do know who holds me in His hands.
He is the One that has the mighty to save, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, the
Great I Am, the Author of Salvation, Mighty Warrior, and the All Knowing God in whom I
have placed my trust.
It is in the wee hours of the morning that I seek Him for guidance, for wisdom, and direction.
You alone are the One that guides the sail of my boat. You are the Anchor in my life and
without You I am nothing. Mold me and make me into the vessel that you want. Break me if
need be to be made holy in your eyes.
Your Word says to ask of you what we need and so today I ask for strength, strength for
today not tomorrow. For I do not worry about tomorrow but only today; as the song says
“One day at a time, sweet Jesus, is all I’m asking from you. Give me the strength to do
every day what I have to do”.
Jesus, all I ask for is strength for one day. Strength to smile and not cry. Strength to raise
my girls in your ways. Strength to face fears. Strength to forgive. Strength to love and not
hold resentment.
God’s strength is part of God’s character; it is illustrated in His acts towards us and directly
through His promises. God’s strength, unlike mine, has the power to consistently strengthen
us as it is part of our relationship with Him. Even when we find ourselves weak,
God sympathizes with our weakness and even asks that we place our burdens on Him as
He walks by our side through this journey, called life, because He has the ability to sustain
us. God’s strength is our inheritance. Through Him, we are born again creatures and death
has no power.
His Word highlights the many facets of his character, including His strength. His strength is
available to us if we accept what He offers us.
